John Deangelis

Last week, Lisa Thomas-Laury, Philadelphia’s beloved news anchor and author, held a discussion and meet and greet event at Germantown’s Center in the Park. The Emmy award winner, who broke barriers as one of the first Black anchors in the country, discussed her personal journey starting in West Virginia, living with a rare disease known as P.O.E.M.S. and navigating our country’s complex healthcare system. She offered suggestions to others with similar challenges and related how she maintains a positive outlook on life despite the obstacles it sometimes brings. In her own words, “It’s about never giving up or losing hope.”
