Celebrate Arts & Aging Closes with Inspiring Artist Reception at Center on the Hill
PCA President & CEO Najja R. Orr welcomed artists, guests, and supporters to the closing reception of PCA’s 23rd annual Celebrate Arts & Aging exhibit, held at Center on the Hill.
This special event marked the culmination of a monthlong celebration held each May in honor of Older Americans Month, recognizing the remarkable creativity, resilience, and contributions of older adults across Philadelphia. Surrounded by more than 170 stunning works of art — created by individuals ages 57 to 100 — guests were invited to reflect on the power of artistic expression and the stories it tells.
Highlights included the work of featured artist Ronald Washington, age 67, and centenarian artist Peter Lantos, whose vibrant creations serve as a powerful reminder that the creative spirit knows no age limit. Adding to the celebration, special guest Senator Art Haywood joined the reception, showing his support for older adults, the arts, and thriving Philadelphia communities.
With the generous support of long-time presenting partner PECO and Always Best Care Senior Services, the program expanded its reach and impact, including the participation of 36 virtual-only artists, broadening access and connection across communities.
As Najja Orr noted in his remarks, the growing population of older adults presents a call to action — to invest in opportunities that honor and uplift their talents, leadership, and vision. Programs like Celebrate Arts & Aging not only shine a spotlight on the artistic achievements of older adults but also help build more inclusive, vibrant, and connected communities for all.
The afternoon concluded with a sense of joy, inspiration, and deep appreciation for the artists who shared their gifts and for all those who make this annual celebration possible.
