SNAP emergency allotments to end after February 2023
Households receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits since the pandemic started in 2020 should note that this funding will be altered after February 2023. Those households receiving SNAP benefits have been paid in two installments each month: the regular SNAP benefit in the first half of the month, and an extra payment, known as an emergency allotment, in the second half of the month.
Changes in federal law mean that states will no longer issue additional emergency allotment payments. Beginning March 1, SNAP recipients will receive one regular SNAP payment, as they did prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please see the link below for full details on the SNAP changes:
