What is GenPhilly?
GenPhilly is a vibrant network of emerging professionals from Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) and other age-friendly organizations. Together, we inspire Philadelphians to build meaningful connections with older adults in both their professional and personal lives. Through innovative programs and professional development opportunities, GenPhilly empowers its members to raise awareness about aging-related issues and champion a culture of positive aging throughout Philadelphia.
Who should join GenPhily?
You would be a good member of GenPhilly if you:
- Identify as an emerging professional who works, or wants to work, with older adults in some capacity.
- Are located in and/or work in Philadelphia or the collar counties (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery).
Why should I join GenPhilly?
If you want to join a group of emerging leaders who are promoting an age-friendly city, this is the group for you! The way that members get involved is totally up to you and your schedule. Engagement can look like interacting with the listserv, to attending in-person networking events.
GenPhilly members support the group’s mission, which is to connect and educate members through creative programming and professional development, increase awareness of aging issues, and promote positive aging in Philadelphia.
As a GenPhilly member, you’ll help advance our mission to foster meaningful connections, raise awareness about aging issues, and celebrate positive aging in our city. You’ll also gain access to unique professional development opportunities and a vibrant network of individuals and organizations dedicated to creating an inclusive, age-friendly Philadelphia.

What do GenPhilly members do?
Members get involved through the:
- Listserv (Please share events, articles, and other relevant information. But no direct promotion, please! Example: seeking customers for your company, etc.)
- Planning or attending events (Past events have been Pet-tastic Happy Hours, a screening of “Still Alice,” Complete Parks, Hack4Access hackathon – and many more!)
How do I join?

Once accepted, you will receive an email from Leadership Committee Chair Maddie with information about how to participate.

- Feel free to introduce yourself first and why the email is relevant to an age-friendly city.

People in GenPhilly are employed in many fields, from urban planning to the arts, to social work to public health. Additionally, for those interested in a leadership role, GenPhilly’s Leadership Committee is made up of members that guide the policy and administration of the group. Leadership Committee members equally represent a variety of agencies interested in aging in Philadelphia.
GenPhilly Leadership Committee
GenPhilly is governed by a leadership committee, made up of members from PCA and other local age-friendly organizations. Members commit to promote GenPhilly by organizing events, doing strategic planning, and sharing GenPhilly within their networks. They meet on a quarterly basis in-person or virtually.
