What is GenPhilly?

GenPhilly is a vibrant network of emerging professionals from the Philly area who work in the field of aging or are passionate about aging. Together, GenPhilly connects and educates professionals and the public about aging through creative programs and meaningful professional development.

Our mission: Led by Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA), together GenPhilly members engage in innovative programming and professional development opportunities. GenPhilly empowers its members to raise awareness about aging-related issues and champion a culture of positive aging throughout Philadelphia.

Who should join GenPhily?

GenPhilly membership is open to all individuals who:

  • Identify as a seasoned or emerging professional who works with, or wants to work with, older adults to help build an age friendly city.
  • Live or work in the Philadelphia region (including surrounding counties).

Why should I join GenPhilly?

Joining GenPhilly provides access to a vibrant community of professionals dedicated to creating a better Philadelphia for all of us as we age. Membership in GenPhilly enables you to:

  • Connect with like-minded peers: Meet other emerging professionals with a commitment to improving aging services and deepening their understanding of aging
  • Deepen your understanding of aging: Participate in insightful conversations and attend exclusive presentations
  • Stay up to date on news and events: Stay informed about new aging initiatives, Philadelphia-region happenings, and  state-wide and national trends.
  • Participate in engaging events: Attend virtual and in-person events including quarterly meetings, coffee chats, mentorship mixers, and more!
  • Engage in professional development: Receive support and guidance to help you achieve your professional goals and inspire the next generation of leaders in aging.
  • Create change in your community: Lead and support initiatives that establish Philadelphia as an inclusive and age-friendly city for all.

What do GenPhilly members do?

GenPhilly members can choose their desired level of involvement. Members get involved through:

  • Listserv: Members can share events, articles, questions, and other relevant information with the GenPhilly network Please note, no direct promotion of products or services is permitted.
    • Listserv instructions: Send emails via the listserv by emailing generation-apprecation-philadelphia-gap@googlegroups.com
    • Feel free to introduce yourself first and why the email is relevant to an age-friendly city.
    • Share events, articles, and other relevant information. No direct promotion, please! (Example: seeking customers for your company, etc.)
  • Meetings: Members attend quarterly meetings to connect with others in the field of aging and stay up to date on happenings and news.
  • Events: Members can plan and attend GenPhilly events. Past events have included Meet-a-Mentor, happy hours, volunteer days – and many more! Events are open to GenPhilly members and the general public.
  • LinkedIn: Stay up-to-date on events and news in the network, and connect with other members online.

How do I join?

Please fill out the questionnaire below to be added to the GenPhilly listserv:

Once accepted, you will receive an email from Leadership Committee Chair Maddie with information about how to participate.

GenPhilly Leadership Committee

GenPhilly is governed by a leadership committee, made up of members from PCA and other organizations. Members commit to promote GenPhilly by organizing events, leading strategic planning, and expanding GenPhilly’s impact. The leadership committee  meets on a monthly basis in-person or virtually.
