Rights of Personal Care Home Residents

  • The right to be informed in writing of your rights
  • The right to be informed in writing of the home’s policies, services and charges
  • The right to leave and return to the home at reasonable times
  • The right to use your own clothing and possessions
  • The right to receive visitors
  • The right to telephone access and privacy
  • The right to receive and send mail
  • The right to make complaints without retaliation
  • The right to be free from mental, physical, and sexual abuse, exploitation, neglect and involuntary seclusion
  • The right to privacy and to be treated with dignity and respect
  • The right to be provided with 30-days advance written notice of the facility’s intent to terminate your residency and the reason for this termination
  • The right to be free from chemical (drug) and physical restraints
  • The right to keep at least $60 per month of your own funds for personal use each month
  • The right to request and receive assistance in relocating
  • The right to freely participate in any religious, social or community activity of your choosing
