Rights of Domiciliary Care Residents
- The right to be accepted and treated as a member of the household
- The right to privacy, including the right to receive and send mail, and use the telephone freely for local calls
- The right to be treated with respect and in a courteous manner
- The right to live free from abuse and exploitation of any sort
- The right to request and receive assistance in relocating from the Dom Care home
- The right to actively participate in care planning, and in setting goals for yourself
- The right to expect assistance, as necessary, from your Dom Care home and the Dom Care Program in achieving goals
- The right to have visitors in the home, at times mutually agreed upon between you and the Dom Care home
- The right to voice grievances and concerns, and to have those grievances and concerns addressed to your satisfaction
- The right to make decisions and manage personal affairs as freely as possible
- The right to choose whether or not to participate in religious activities and the right to practice and observe your own religious, cultural or other traditions
- The right to the full enjoyment of the home, excluding the personal areas of other members
- The right to receive assistance, if necessary, in obtaining medical care
- The right to recommend changes in household rules or policies
- The right to have personal possessions, such as pictures, plants, radio, etc., in your bedroom
