Medicare

Medicare is divided into four parts:

(The following are links to shortcuts to other websites)

Part A (free for most people): Covers inpatient hospital and rehabilitation services.

Part B (optional; beneficiaries pay a premium, deductible and co-insurance): Covers physician’s fees, outpatient services.

Part C (Medicare Advantage, an alternative coverage available to those enrolled in parts A and B): Offers health coverage though managed care plans and preferred provider organizations. Premiums may apply.

Part D (available to all Medicare recipients): Offers prescription drug coverage. Beneficiaries who are not part of a Medicare Advantage program (above), should choose a “stand-alone” drug plan. Beneficiaries pay a monthly premium. Deductibles and co-insurance may also apply.
