Philadelphia Corporation for Aging maintains a full-time professional staff in its call center, called the PCA Helpline. Through the PCA Helpline, callers can obtain information about programs, services and resources for older adults within PCA or in the community. The phone line is also the first step for consumers who would like services from PCA’s Long Term Care, Housing, Attendant Transportation and Older Adult Protective Services.  In addition to bilingual staff and dedicated foreign-language phone lines, thePCA Helplineutilizes a language line offering on-call language interpretation in some 140 languages and serves the deaf and hearing impaired through a TDD line.

The PCA Helpline operates from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except during times of excessive heat warnings, when it becomes the Heatline.

The Heatline is operated by PCA in collaboration with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. Heatline staff advises callers about how to avoid heat stress and refers those in need of help to Emergency Services. The Heatline hours are expanded as needed, to operate from 8:30 a.m. to midnight throughout the emergency, including Saturday and Sunday if necessary.
