Philadelphia's Neighborhoods

PCA has compiled information on 26 Philadelphia Neighborhoods that can help guide policy and planning to serve the community's elders. The Neighborhood Profiles present comparative information on a variety of factors, including demographics, living arrangements, health status, crime and services available in the neighborhood. The profiles include data from the Philadelphia Police Department; Philadelphia Health Management Corporation; Philadelphia Board of Revision of Taxes; and the U.S. Census Bureau.

PCA also gathers information about initiatives undertaken by organizations throughout Philadelphia which are aimed at improving the lives of older citizens. These initiatives are important resources in their own right, and can also serve as models to inspire others to take action. Many neighborhood-based organizations are developing innovative, collaborative solutions to the needs and concerns of their older residents. Intergenerational programs, counseling, community education, assistance for immigrants, interfaith programs and community supports are among the initiatives underway. Learn More
