Meal programs for the elderly strive to meet the local need, serving over 2,500 homebound older Philadelphians each day. Monies raised are used to support smaller, volunteer-based meal organizations in Philadelphia, therefore helping to build capacity to meet the growing need.
The facts speak for themselves; the need is great, and even a small donation goes a long way towards helping older Philadelphians:
- More than 20,000 older Philadelphians need help preparing meals.
- $1,000 delivers a daily meal to a senior for a full year.
- $500 provides a daily meal to six people for an entire month.
- $150 provides weekend meals to one person for half a year
- $30 provides ten meals
