Community Relations

This department conducts outreach and education activities to inform seniors about entitlement and benefit programs, with special attention given to reaching Asian, Latino and new African groups. Community Relations also administers the Emergency Fund for older Philadelphians, a coalition of organizations which raises funds to provide cash allotments directly to seniors for urgent needs such as fuel, food and medications.

Emergency Fund Coalition for Older Philadelphians
Older adults without funds for medication, fuel, medical supplies, eviction prevention and other health and safety necessities may be eligible to receive assistance through the Emergency Fund Coalition for Older Philadelphians, which is administered by Philadelphia Corporation for Aging. Assistance is granted ONLY in response to referrals from a recognized social service agency or member of the clergy. Those making a referral must verify that the Emergency Fund is the last available resource for aid.
