Love at the click of a mouse
By Joseph Hanis
After losing my wife to cancer, life for a couple of years was hard to digest. I worked, went to the theater alone living mostly for my two children. I figured that another love would never cross the pathway to my door! Then the Internet came into being. That was 1995. I got lost in the world of IM's. I had finally found a place where I could vent and not worry about anyone seeing the tears in my eyes or the misery that I suffered.
I dated a few times and was even semi serious with one but nothing seemed to even come close to what I had previously.
Then, one day someone in the widow and widowers chat room told me of a site that was not advertised on the main screen. I went into it and found one person in it. I said Hi, and we chatted for about a minute or two, just long enough to find out that she was from Philadelphia. Only about an hour away from where I lived in New Jersey.
Then a guy came into the room that she evidently had known and chatted with before. They began chatting, so I left the room, figuring that the usual had happened and I lost out to someone familiar to her.
Then, an IM comes on. It was her, saying, WHERE'D YOU GO? Turns out she was a widow looking for someone near to where she lived to chat with. We chatted for a long time and I finally called her on the phone. We eventually met at a local Mall and had lunch. It felt as if we had known each other for years.
We married September 25th 2010 and are more in love than ever! I dread to think what life would have been like had she not IM'd me that evening after I foolishly left that obscure chat room that someone suggested I check out. My happiness was decided by the click of a mouse, as was hers!
I truly believe that out there is someone that is meant for each and every one of us! Mine was ISABELL55!
