EMERGENCY FUND
Proceeds generated from the M. Powell Lawton award luncheon and conference will be used to assist low-income Philadelphia residents through the Emergency
Fund. The fund fills an important gap in services, aiding those who have exhausted all other resources by providing one-time emergency assistance with basic needs including home heating oil, food, and medical supplies.
The Emergency Fund is guided by a coalition of 24 community-based organizations and service providers and administered by PCA free of charge, thereby assuring that 100% of funds directly benefit low-income, older people. It is appropriate that money raised
in Dr. Lawton's name be used for this purpose, as his research focused on enhancing quality of life for the elderly.
